Season in Andaman

“Season” in Andaman refers to a particular time, period, or months when there is a continuous flow of tourists to prominent Islands. As a result, the airline operations from mainland India get higher and as a consequence, it is considered the best time to visit the Andaman Islands. 

It is advisable to book in advance hotels, inter-Islands ferries, and popular watersports activities to have a seamless tour experience without last minute hussle. Group travelers might get exclusive deals or discounts on pre-bookings even during season.

October, January (mid), February, March, April, and May are season months of Andaman Islands. On these months, high turnout of tourists means higher package prices.

Super peak season in Andaman

“Super peak Season” of Andaman Islands starts in the months of November, December, and January (1st half). It is the highest peak season in Andaman when you will find everything to be fully booked.

Off-season in Andaman

June to September time span is the monsoon season in Andaman and as a consequently considered the off-season. During this period, the Islands experience heavy rainfall, frequent cyclones, high humidity, rough seas, resulting in lower count of tourists. Best Months to Plan Your Andaman Trip

There are mainly three major seasons in the Andaman Islands, i.e, the dry season with minimal rainfall, the summer season, and the rainy season; there are no winters in the Andaman. Best months to visit Andaman - December, January, and February

It is the best time to visit the Andaman Islands when there is no rainfall and mostly sunny days. It is a pleasant time for watersport lovers to spend quality time in calm and clear seas and on beach vacations. During these months, the temperature remains 30°C during daytime & drops to a minimum of 20°C during nights with low humidity, making it the best time to visit the Islands.  

Very good months to visit Andaman - March, October, and November

Planning to visit these months is highly recommended, when the weather is mostly pleasant with no to minimal rain except for a few weeks of December and January. During this period, the humidity levels are relatively low due to pleasant temperatures ranging from 21°C to 29°C. The sea conditions are mostly calm, clear, and ideal for water sport activities. Winter months are the perfect time to visit the Andaman Islands.

Good months to visit Andaman - April and May

These are the summer months of the Andaman and a good time to visit with moderate tourist occupancy. The weather remains hot and humid these months with comparatively hot temperatures ranging between 25°C to 33°C. The days in these months are mostly warm and sunny, with clear blue skies, perfect sea conditions ideal for exploring scuba diving, snorkeling, parasailing, sea walking, and other watersports. It is recommended to stay hydrated, wear light clothes, carry sun protection cream, a hat, and sunglasses.  

Moderate months to visit Andaman - June, July, August & September

These are the monsoon months of the Andaman and not recommended for watersport and beach lovers. During these months, the Andaman experiences moderate to high rainfall, strong winds, is prone to cyclones, and has rough seas. These conditions might disrupt your travel plans and limit outdoor activities.

The choppy sea surface causes poor underwater visibility unsuited for watersports and might disrupt inter-island ferries and airline services. The tour cost in these months is almost half compared to peak season due to lower tourist turnout. These months are recommended to people who don’t mind rain and are not keen to indulge in watersport activities.

The tropical climate and high humidity of the Andaman make it one of the wettest regions of India. As per the weather patterns of the Andaman, the northern regions are a few degrees cooler compared to the southern regions. The Andaman Islands are famous to try some popular watersports but unlike other watersports, scuba diving was not possible for everyone. In the year 2005-2006, non-swimmers were not eligible to do scuba diving. We have designed try scuba diving program for beginners and non-swimmers. The program of scuba diving in Andaman for non-swimmers will accommodate those who can’t swim but also maintain proper quality and safety while diving.

How do we conduct scuba diving for beginners or nonswimmers?

It is recommended to make your scuba dive booking in advance. It will be helpful to get your preferred time slots for diving on a specific dive date. On the date of diving, one of our instructors will assist you to complete your required paperwork and provide a short briefing on underwater hand signals, how the scuba gear works and expected underwater sightseeing during your dive. Afterward, you have to put on a wetsuit for the practical training session at the chest level deep water.

At the training point, your instructor helps you to put on the scuba diving set. You will take your first underwater breath here and you might not find it easy in the beginning but after a couple of attempts, you will find it super easy and comfortable. During the training session, you will learn how to release underwater ear pressure, how to clear water from a mask while diving, and how to release water from the mouth in case the regulator is accidentally removed from the mouth underwater. Prior dive training is mandatory for Scuba diving in Havelock to ensure for a safe and smooth dive experience. 

Scuba diving in Havelock

During diving, your instructor will hold you from behind and swim for you. He will maintain your dive depth and direction as per your comfort level. The instructor will point at the colorful fish life and coral reefs from time to time so that you don’t miss it during your dive. You can hold your instructor’s hand if you feel scared at the beginning of the dive. You have to be calm and follow all given instructions carefully for an uninterrupted amazing experience. Is scuba diving safe in Andaman?

Scuba diving is an extremely safe underwater adventure watersport provided all guidelines and internationally recognized safety standards are followed. We strictly adhere to all the safety standards of scuba schools international (SSI) as well as the safety norms of local administration. 

A dive professional accompanying you is the best and most responsible buddy to keep you safe from unexpected misadventures while venturing into the sea. They will stay with you during the whole diving experience for quick support when you need it. They will not let you touch coral reefs and marine fragile underwater for your safety and preservation purposes.

Prerequisites for scuba diving

You must be mentally and physically fit to undertake scuba dive. The minimum age limit for scuba diving is 12 years and the maximum is 50 years. swimming is not a prerequisite for a one-time scuba diving experience. Non-swimmers can go scuba diving with ease. 

We don’t recommend tourists swim for their very first-time dive even if they know about swimming. Underwater swimming will exhaust you very soon and you will feel uncomfortable. People suffering from the below-mentioned health conditions or taking medications on a daily basis are strictly not recommended for scuba diving.

Best time to visit Andaman for scuba diving

We have been operating scuba diving services throughout the whole year since 2008. The Andaman Islands are the tropical rainforest zone and experience huge rain around the year. However, you will experience light rain from mid-January till the end of April. 

Rain doesn’t directly affect scuba diving and everything remains unchanged underwater during the rainy season. However, as per past years’ experiences, October to May is considered the best time for scuba diving in andaman.
