Scuba Diving at The Wreck, Chidiyatapu
About The Wreck Dive Site, Chidiyatapu
Description: The history of The Wreck Chidiyatapu dive site is mysterious as there are no verified proofs of when and how a ship sunken there. Two theories are famous, one says an Indian navy ship named Sophie Marie sank in 1942, while the other says a Japanese warship named Amagi Maru carrying 600 soldiers which the Britishers torpedoed.
The remnants of the shipwreck lie 30 meters below the sea surface, making it the most dramatic and mysterious dive site. Various enchanting colorful marine species are found at the shipwreck including schools of snappers, trevally, stingrays, humphead wrasse, fusiliers, batfish, and giant groupers often spotted hanging around the wreck.
