About Johnny’s Gorge Dive Site At Havelock AKA Swaraj Dweep
Description:- Johnny’s Gorge is a favorite dive site amongst deep divers located 19 kilometers east of Havelock Island. The dive site is named after Johnny, a local divemaster who discovered this beautiful reef. The structure of the reef comprises a bed of low-laying rocky outcrops emerging from the bottom at a depth of 98 feet. The dive site is surrounded from everywhere by sand, where reef sharks, visiting manta, and eagle rays rest on the sandy bottom.
Divers can spot a variety of small angelfish, clownfish, schools of mackerels, bumphead parrotfish, surgeonfish, barracudas, trevallies, and snappers taking shelter on the rocky patches of Johnny’s Gorge. The attraction of the reef includes white tip reef sharks, giant groupers, large stingrays, barracuda, unicornfish, and sometimes friendly dolphins will greet you.

Best Time To Scuba Dive:- October to May ( 5:10 am till 1:30 pm )

Regularly spotted marine species:- White tip reef sharks, Great Barracuda, Schools of snappers, Turtles, Trevally, Grouper, Stingray, Unicornfish, Octopus, Napoleon wrasse, Pufferfish, Surgeonfish, Angelfish, Bannerfish, Triggerfish, Parrotfish, Tuna, Lionfish, Clownfish, Sweetlips, and many more.
Occasionally spotted marine species:- Nurse Sharks, Cat Sharks, Dolphins, Giant Moray, Eagle Rays, and many more.
Popular coral species:- Coral flora, Hard coral, and many more.
