Island Hopping Trip In The Andamans
Island hopping in the Andaman
The Seahawks island hopping in Andaman tour is a half-day activity, taking up to 6 hours. The tour includes Scuba diving, snorkeling, a boat cruise through the mangroves, lunch on a secluded beach, and a sunset at the Havelock lighthouse.
How Do We arrange island hopping in Havelock?
The trip starts around 11:30 AM, giving you plenty of time to wake up late and grab a hearty breakfast. On your arrival at the dive center, you will complete basic paperwork and be given your scuba diving and snorkeling gear.
Following this, you will head to the beach with our divemasters for training. Training will be conducted in the waist to chest-deep water. Our diving sessions have been tailored for people who have never dived before and don’t know how to swim.
We believe in making all of our guests comfortable in the water prior to their dive, thus our training sessions do not have a time limit, and can last anywhere between 45 minutes to over an hour.
Who can sign up for the trip?
Everyone can do this as long as they are physically and mentally fit. Nothing much, just the ability to breathe through the mouth using a scuba or snorkel.
Kids should be 8 years and above. Check the medical form HERE.
The activities we do during the trip
After completing your training, you will board the boat from the beach and head to the dive site, Tribe Gate.
The site lies 2 km East of Havelock with travel time being 5-7 minutes. It resembles an underwater hillock, with the top of the reef lying at a depth of 3 meters and the deepest point at 12m on a sandy bottom.
Tribe Gate is home to schools of fishes, which you can find even at the very top of the reef. With a dive time of 50 minutes, you will have ample time to explore every part of the reef.
You will see a few of the fishes: Clownfish (Neemo), Surgeonfish (Dory), Sergeant Majors, Snappers, and Damselfish. The reef is also home to Octopuses, Giant Clams, Sea Stars, and Lobsters during your scuba diving experience.
Island Hopping and Snorkelling on Havelock Island
This trip offers a chance to not only explore the marine life found in the archipelago but also enjoy a close-up view of some uninhabited islands while snorkeling on Havelock Island.
Once you are done with your dive, the boat will head further East towards John Lawrence Island for snorkeling. The fringing reef at John Lawrence is home to many vibrant species of coral.
In particular, the presence of Pavona, makes it seem as though you are looking at a field of emerald-green bulbs. This sheltered reef with its vast and healthy corals provides an ideal environment for a nursery.
The site is home to many juvenile fish, some of the species that you might spot include Parrotfish, Rabbitfish, and Goatfish, and if you’re lucky you might even spot a congregation of squid.
The presence of a fringing reef and its close location to land mean that the surface conditions tend to be very gentle with still water and good visibility, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling.
Sunset Cruise
Following the completion of your snorkeling session, you will return to the dive center to change into a dry set of clothes and collect your picnic hamper.
The boat will leave from beach number three and head to the channel between William Peel and John Lawrence Island. This scenic cruise will take you through the mangroves and will end at a secluded beach on the eastern corner of William Peel Island.
Here we will break for half an hour so that you can enjoy your Picnic. Finally, we head towards the Havelock Lighthouse to watch the sunset.
One of the most beautiful views you can enjoy outside the waters is to watch the sky as the sun sets over the sea.
Once you’ve spent some time on the unmanned island, you can kick back on the boat, enjoy a snack with some nice talk, and watch the sun setting over the horizon.
The scuba diving, snorkeling, and sunset cruise are the experience you enjoy the day with a speed boat trip while island hopping in Andaman.
