Beaches of Havelock
While there is a lot to explore in the waters around the islands, don’t miss out on the joys of lazing around and taking in the sun and sand at the beaches of Havelock. Set aside some time to build yourself a tall sandcastle or tunnel your hands under the sand or simply spread out a beach mat and enjoy a book on the beach. A day on the beach can be therapeutic and relaxing in a way that you would never imagine. Experience scuba diving in Andaman and explore the deep blue ocean.
The 3 most popular beaches around Havelock to spend a day at are:
Radha Nagar Beach
When you reach Radhanagar beach, you might find a large crowd that has come to enjoy the breathtaking sunset. But the beach is long and all you need to do is walk a short distance to the left or right from the main entrance to find a serene, quiet spot.
Kalapathar Beach
Kalapathar is popular for the view of the sunrise and has groups of tourists visiting early in the mornings, but for the most part of the day, it’s an ideal location to set up a hammock and kick-back with a novel in absolute silence. On the way to Kalapthar beach, a stretch of the road goes just along the beach and goes on further into a forest. The surrounding views are astounding and that in itself makes these places worth a visit, even if you don’t have enough time on your holiday to enjoy a beach day. Snorkelling in Andaman is the most thrilling underwater sport at Kalapathar beach.
Elephant Beach
Elephant Beach is the place to head to when you’re all set for a day of activity and fun rides on a jet-ski or banana boat. The place is bustling with activity from 8 in the morning until lunchtime and is one of the most popular beaches for tourists visiting Havelock.
Radhanagar and Kalapathar beach are the quieter and more serene beaches to spend your day relaxing. Being on an island, you are never too far away from a beach. Check the time of the tide before you plan to head out for a swim. A trip to Havelock is incomplete without a day like this. The beaches are named after the surrounding village and the drives to these beaches are an experience in themselves.
