Best Beaches in Havelock Island — a day well spent.

A day at the beach here is therapeutic in a way you won’t expect — and being on an island, you’re never too far from one.
Here are the three beaches every visitor to Havelock should set aside time for.
Radhanagar Beach
Radhanagar is commonly listed among the best beaches in Asia — and it’s easy to see why the moment you arrive. It draws a large crowd around sunset, so if you’re after some quiet, all you need to do is walk a short distance left or right from the main entrance; the beach is long enough that a serene, near-empty stretch is never far away.
The beach has appeared in several Indian films, and you’ll understand why the moment you see the sweep of white sand meeting the Andaman Sea. Whether you’re here to lounge through the afternoon or catch the sunset, Radhanagar earns its reputation.
Kalapathar Beach
On the eastern coast of Havelock, Kalapathar is the island’s go-to spot for sunrise — arrive early and you’ll usually have company, since tour groups make a point of catching it here. Outside of those morning hours, though, it’s one of the quietest beaches on the island: an ideal place to sling up a hammock and spend an afternoon with a book in near-total silence.
The drive out is worth the trip on its own — the road runs alongside the beach before continuing into the forest, and the views along the way are worth the visit even if you don’t have time to stop. A handful of small local stalls near the main beach sell snacks and souvenirs if you get peckish.
Elephant Beach
Elephant Beach is where you go when you want the day to be active. It’s Havelock’s watersports hub — local operators run snorkelling trips, jet ski rides, and other activities here from around 8am through lunchtime, making it one of the busiest and most popular beaches on the island.
You can reach it by boat from the harbour, or take the roughly 30-minute walking trail through the forest, past a supari plantation and through the mangroves — half the experience is getting there.
Radhanagar and Kalapathar are your best bets for a quieter, more relaxed beach day, while Elephant Beach is where the action is. Whichever you choose, check the tide timings before you head out for a swim — and note that each beach takes its name from the village it borders, so the drives out to them are worth savouring in their own right. No trip to Havelock is complete without at least one day like this.
